Our senior members, spouses and guests enjoyed a splendid visit to one of Dublin’s most prestigious clubs, the Stephen’s Green Club. Founded in the 1840s by a group of liberally minded gentlemen, including the great Daniel O’Connell, the club is now a ladies’ and gentlemen’s club steeped in a long and proud history
The club’s manager, Mr Mooney gave our assembled lunch goers an entertaining history and current description of the club as we gathered in the spacious bar for tea and biscuits upon arrival Thereafter we ascended to the old reading room, now a magnificent dining chamber with a row of five large windows overlooking the Green and peppered with fine art. The staff served us a delicious 3 course lunch.
A short presentation was made by Mr Brendan Flood concerning his recently published book of memoirs. Many copies of which were sought after Brendan’s speech.
Mostly we all talked, chatted, joked met and greeted one another in our usual convivial manner Fr Tom Nash led us in a very thought- provoking Grace before our meal in his own inimitable style.
Please keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming notice of what will be our next outing this Spring Seniors
