PAST STUDENT

Donal Walsh, the Kerry teenager who died of cancer last May, and whose appearance on the Brendan O'Connor television show made such an impression nationwide, was awared the Young Person of the Year award at the People of the Year Awards on Saturday September 14th. The award was was in recognition of Donal's advocacy of hospital and hospice facilities for teenagers, and his campaign against teenage suicide.

In light of the tremendous response throughout the country following his appaerance on the Brendan O'Connor show and subsequent national radio and print media, his parents, Fionnbar and Elam have set up a trust foundation to honour Donal's projects, especially to help prevent teenage suicide; see www.donalwalshlivelife.org
