Bob Geldof was granted the honour at aceremony in the Guildhall. Bob is already a freeman of Dublin, after receiving the honour in 2006 in recognition of his humanitarian work.

The Live Aid co-organiser, who was previously nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, has also been recognised at the highest levels in his adopted country with an honorary knighthood in 1986.
