The Blackrock College Athletic Football Club Date : Wednesday, 20th February 2019
The Blackrock College Athletic Football Club have taken up where they left off last season and are once again on the road to promotion or at the very least some well-deserved silverware.
The club is under the watchful eye of Evan O'Brien. As well as fulfilling the role as head coach in the club he will also be recognised by many as the school's games master. Working closely with Evan are the two coaches of the second team Robert Dalton (Class of 2006) and Dick Shakespeare.
Last season the Blackrock College Athletic Football Club’s first team won the Challenge Cup in the UCFL and the second team performed well achieving some memorable results in their respective league.
The club moved to the Leinster Senior League this season and the teams are relishing the challenge. Both are competing hard for their respective league titles which they are leading at the moment - Major 1 Sunday for the first team and Premier 1 Saturday for the second team.
As the business end of the season approaches maintaining their respective league leads in what are very competitive and close competitions remains the sole focus and the main goal of the players and coaches.
Over 40 past pupils train each week and 30 of them then are selected for the weekend matches.

1st team away to Newlands/Castle Park in the league at 12pm on Sunday 24th February 2019
