Gerry OĆ¢Connor (1963) awarded Canada Sovereign Medal

I am very pleased to advise that the Office of the Governor General of Canada notified my twin brother Gerry OĆ¢Connor (1963 year) today that He has been awarded the Canada Sovereign Medal for Volunteers in recognition of his volunteer initiatives, in general, but more specifically, for his volunteer work in the Philippines.
Administered by the Office of the Governor General, this medal is part of the Canadian Honors System and celebrates exceptional volunteer achievements in a wide range of fields.

A short paragraph called a citation was drafted to reflect the reasons for the medal and reads as follows:-
Ć¢Since he first started volunteering with the Canadian Executive Service Organization in 2004, Gerard OĆ¢Connor has provided valuable business advice to entrepreneurs in the Philippines. His project supporting ginger farmers has resulted in an increase in both income and employment rates.Ć¢
The medal award will be presented to Gerry at a formal government function to be held shortly in Canada.
