A number of past students have recently emigrated to Canada and have contacted the Union requesting information.
With respect to the new arrivals in Toronto, on a voluntary basis, Gerry O'Connor (1963) runs a weekly workshop for all new arrivals from Ireland. Having himself emigrated to Canada in 1971, Gerry has been living in Totonto for over 40 years.
The Union would like to advise the Blackrock College alumni who relocate to Toronto that they are welcome to attend Gerry's workshop at the Irish Canadian Immigration Centre. Gerry has served as Workshop Facilitator since its inception in February, 2012.
Attendance is free and recommended before the new arrivals begin their job search - some processes in Canada/Toronto are very different than what is customary in Ireland. More than 1,500 new arrivals have attended this workshop since February, 2012. Materials are provided free.
Attendance is limited to 16 places per session. Advance pre-registration is required. To reserve a place, visit the EVENTBRITE registration on the "Irish and New In Toronto" Facebook page OR visit the Irish Canadian Immigration Centre page at
