Dear Past Student,
The Blackrock College Union is coordinating a 7 day Camino pilgrimage to take place during May 2014 (May 2
nd - 10
th incl). The 7 days hiking, to begin on Saturday May 3
rd, will involve a 165km route from St. Jean Pied de Port to Logrono, a section of the Camino passing through a celebrated wine producing region that is noted for its spectacular scenery. The average daily distance is 23km with the longest day measuring 28km. The trip concludes at Logrono on Friday May 9
th where a celebratory dinner is to be held. It is hoped that some of those that may be unable to participate for the full week will join the closing stages and the special celebratory dinner on Friday May 9
th. The lead coordinator is Cahir Doherty (1992). Cahir has completed the full Camino pilgrimage and is particularly knowledgeable of the section that we have selected. Owing to the nature of a Camino pilgrimage, it is simply not possible for Cahir to coordinate detailed travel plans for an unlimited number. It is for this reason that we will limit the core group to no more than 25. Importantly and in keeping with the spirit of the Camino, Cahir and all others involved will do all they can to assist any of those that may wish to join all or part of the Rock Camino. The provisional itinerary is presented below.
At this stage it would be very helpful if those that would like to learn more or those that are interested to join the group could contact Cahir DohertyÂ
