With the rejuvenation of the past pupil’s soccer club in its 3rd year, both the Saturday & Sunday teams are in the thick of title challenges in the Leinster Senior League.
The Saturday team, with Robert Dalton (2006) at the wheel, continue to push rivals Tymon Bawn all the way with 2 games to go. Rock’ are 3 points adrift of the top, and with promotion all but secured, the team hopes to finish the season on a high and push Tymon all the way in what promises to be a gripping finish. Goals from Tom Curran (2014), Dillon Coghlan (2014) & Conor Lynch (2018) helped secure a crucial 3 points last weekend which brings the club ever closer to promotion to the Saturday Premier. The Saturday side look forward to their Wally Wynne Cup Quarter Final against Ardmore this weekend, looking to take their league form into the cup.
The Sunday team need to win 5 of their last 6 games to secure the league title, and will be comforted by the fact that their fate is in their own hands having had an inconsistent start to the season. Last years’ UCFL Challenge Cup winners have started to show the form of last season and skipper Colm Daly (2008) hopes this will springboard the side to what would be a significant league title for the club in its 3rd season since the relaunch. The signing of Robert Love (2014) in January has proved an inspired piece of business, complementing what was an already all-star attack with the likes of James O’Neill (2013) & Cormac Cullinane.
Special thanks to all of the clubs sponsors, especially those who helped us run our annual quiz night back in November, these sponsors have helped keep the club alive and maintain our ability to facilitate our ever growing playing membership which is now approaching 60 members.
