Fifth Year Career Talks for Parents Date : Wednesday, 10th October 2018
The first talk took place on 10 September, chaired by the President. David McWilliams gave a very interesting and thought provoking speech on his views on education, stressing the need to avoid groupthink and to have regard to the fact that future generations will have many different jobs during the course of a lifetime. Alan MacGinty then gave a very detailed presentation on the educational philosophy of Blackrock College.
There was a very good crowd in attendance when compared to last year due in part to the fact that we had engaged with the Parents Association̢۪s representatives in advance.
The second talk took place on 17 September with another very good crowd in attendance and chaired by Declan O̢۪Sullivan.
The speakers were Robert Dee (Head of Data – Risk Analytics at AIB), Robert Connolly (Recruitment Consultant) and James McElroy (House My Dog). All 3 gave excellent presentations on their career path focusing on new careers – Data Analytics and alternative career options in sales or as an entrepreneur.
