Blackrock College Union Past V Present Debate
The Annual Past Pupil versus Present Debate will take place on Wednesday
9th February at 7pm in the school Lecture Hall, admission is free.
This is a most enjoyable event which pits 6th year students from the School
Debating Society against eminent past pupils of the College.
The motion selected for this year’s debate is appropriate to the current
times and will lead to a stimulating engagement. The motion is ‘This House Believes:
Self Belief will lead to our recovery’. The motion will be proposed by the
Past Pupils and opposed by the Present Pupils. The Chairman of the Debate
is The President of the Union Stephen Doyle.
The Past Pupils teams includes;
Hugo Mc Neill (1977)
Rossa Fanning SC (1993)
Shane Murphy SC (1981)
Gary Wall (2010)
The speakers on the Present Pupils' side will be:
Alex Owens (2011)
Eoin Healy (2011)
Jonathan McKeon (2011)
Robert MacCarthy (2011)
This event is always well attended by both pupils and members of the Union
and we would like to ensure that this also is the case this year. So
please come along and support this enjoyable night.
