You may or may not be aware that each year Blackrock College produces a musical and this year’s show is “Yesterdays”.
Yesterdays tells the story of 4 different young people from Liverpool, the West of Ireland, Alabama and Belfast and the changes in their lives during the upheaval of the 1960’s. Set against the musical backdrop of the Beatles back catalogue, this show was first performed in Blackrock College in 1993 and explores the themes of familial expectation, social change, the imposition of authority from a bygone era and the gulf between generations as change leads to turmoil.
This year the music and performance is of a particularly high quality, with many students having performed half a dozen times in previous shows. With the high production values and track record of previous shows, the senior musical continues to be the highlight in the school calendar.
The Union night is Saturday November 20th, tickets are priced at €18 and the musical starts at 8pm. Doors open at 7:15 pm.
The show is suitable for the entire family and I would encourage you to invite family and friends for what will be a great night out. Light Refreshments will be served during the interval in the teacher’s dining room.
Tickets can be purchased on-line through the Union website www.rockunion.ie (see bottom of this page "click here to register" and pay by Laser card or Credit card,
